Munnar School teacher committed suicide by jumping into the dam. A. Ganesan (48) died in South Division of Kannandevan Company Chokanad Estate. Ganesha, who first jumped into the dam, was rescued but jumped again after a while. The incident happened on Tuesday at 3 pm.
Ramesh, an auto driver who came right behind, saw Ganesan on his bike falling into the head works dam with his bike. Then he was taken to the road and put in another auto. But Ganesan jumped from the auto and ran for about five meters and jumped again into the deep part of the dam.
After being informed by the auto drivers, the fire rescue personnel dived into the dam for an hour and found the body. Ganesan, a teacher of LP School in Chokanad Estate, left the school saying that he wanted to go to town after taking classes till noon.
Mother Muthumari, who was with Ganesha, fell into the water last July but has not been found yet. Relatives said Ganesan was under a lot of stress since his mother went missing. The body was shifted to Tata Tea Hospital Mortuary. the wife Jyoti. children Logeswaran, Akshaya Shri.
