A teenager was injured by a gunshot in Montreal North

A​ suspect opened​ fire ‌toward​ a teenager, hitting him in ⁢the upper ‍body before fleeing in​ the ⁢Montreal-North area on Thursday evening.

Police found the 16-year-old victim⁤ on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard ‍near Laurier Avenue after receiving a 911 call around 9:45 p.m., a police⁤ department spokesperson, Caroline Chevrefils, said.

According to the spokesperson, the young man who​ regained consciousness ⁤was taken ‍to ⁢the​ hospital, where his ‌life is not in danger.

The suspect fled before police arrived at the scene. No arrests had been made as of around ⁢10:30 p.m.

A security perimeter was established to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to ​gather evidence.‍ The​ canine unit was also called‍ to the scene to search for clues.
