A total of 1,051 self-employed workers were affected yesterday by the erroneous collection, five times more than what was owed, by the Gipuzkoa Treasury of the installment advance payment of rent to the self-employed for the second quarter, according to official data from the Gipuzkoan treasury known by this newspaper. The Provincial Council has a citizen service portal, Gertubide, to attend to the doubts and problems of the people affected. The self-employed affected by this ruling by the Treasury, which apologized late yesterday for what happened, will also have the possibility of receiving face-to-face advice at the tax offices, without the need for a prior appointment, according to regional sources.
Once the error was detected yesterday, Thursday, there was movement of telephones and messages from affected parties. The Treasury has been analyzing each of the cases and contacted the financial institutions so that from today the amount improperly collected is returned automatically so that these taxpayers do not suffer penalties from the banks for presenting red numbers in your accounts. In fact, some affected people told this newspaper that “in some cases they are high amounts and they leave you overdraft in the bank accounts.” In other cases, such as a taxi driver from San Sebastian, they assured that they have charged him “not five, but seven times more than what is established.” The territory has more than 65,300 self-employed workers.
