A 35-year-old woman died after being hit by a firearm projectile in Saint-Raymond, in Portneuf, on Friday evening.
At around 8 p.m. Friday, a gunshot was reportedly fired at a vehicle in the area of rue Francine in Saint-Raymond and one person was seriously injured.
“Unfortunately, the injured person [vendredi] succumbed to these injuries. This is a 35-year-old woman from Saint-Raymond, ”said Hélène Saint-Pierre, sergeant in the communications department of the Sûreté du Québec.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man from Saint-Raymond. He will appear by telephone on Saturday.
“It is said that the link between him and the lady remains nebulous, as well as the motive for the gesture,” added the sergeant in the communications department.
The circumstances surrounding this event are not known at this time. The Quebec Security Department for Investigating Personal Crimes and Major Crime Investigators is on site to determine them.
The investigation will continue on Saturday.
