The Saudi Statistics Authority reported this week that the total goods unloaded at all the kingdom’s ports in 2021 amounted to 119.8 million tons, compared to 115.03 million tons the previous year, an increase of 4.1%. In the report it published, the Statistics Authority added that the Jeddah Islamic Port was at the top of the ports in terms of the volume of goods unloaded with 29%, followed by the King Fahd Binba Industrial Port on the shores of the Red Sea with 22%, while the activity in the Jizan port was the lowest In terms of the charge unloaded with 1%.

Of the goods unloaded, the food sector was the leader with 51% of the total cargo unloaded at the commercial ports.

The total handling capacity of Saudi ports reached 601 million tons in 2021, with the King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail (in the east of the kingdom) ranking first with 210 million tons, followed by the Jeddah Islamic Port, which has a handling capacity of 130 million tons.
