If more than 80% of French people prefer to age at home rather than in a nursing home, the cost of aging well at home can be very high and even explodes after the age of 85. Part of these additional expenses is linked to housing development needs. On January 1, 2024, the government is therefore launching the MaPrimeAdapt’ system, which aims to facilitate the financing of this adaptation work. Here is everything you need to know about this new aid.

Who can benefit ?

MaPrimeAdapt’ merges several already existing aids, such as those of the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav) or the National Housing Agency (Anah), explains TF1 Info. The new thing is that this system will be open to all people aged 70 and over, with or without health concerns. People aged 60 to 69 with a loss of autonomy and people with disabilities will also have access. You must nevertheless be the owner of your home or a tenant of the private park.

What can MaPrimeAdapt’ be used for?

Thanks to this aid, seniors with modest and very modest incomes will be able to benefit from 50% to 70% of support for work to improve their homes, up to 22,000 euros excluding tax. The calculation of assistance depends on income, region, number of occupants and other criteria. Among the financeable works cited by the official France Rénov website‘, we find the installation of a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub or the installation of an electric stair lift.

How to benefit from it?

To benefit from MaPrimeAdapt’, you will need to contact an AMO (Project Management Assistant) approved by the State. He will help define the work project, in particular by carrying out an independent housing diagnosis, and will support the completion of the project. He is also the one who will help put together the file to obtain MaPrimeAdapt’. Once Anah’s agreement has been received, the user will have the freedom to choose the craftsman responsible for the work.

With this aid, the government wants to adapt 45,000 homes in 2024, and 680,000 over ten years. The system has a budget of 68 million euros and the State plans to invest 1.5 billion euros in the issue of autonomy for seniors by 2027. For the moment, only 6% of housing in France is adapted to aging.
