ACCOKEEK, Md. – Five peopel were hospitalized Thursday morning with serious but not life-threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash in Accokeek on Christmas Day.
Christmas Day Crash Sends Five to Hospital
Firefighters rescued two people trapped in their vehicles following a collision on indian Head Highway.
- A three-vehicle crash occurred on the 14250 block of Indian Head Highway in Accokeek, Maryland.

The incident unfolded around 11:30 p.m.on Wednesday, December 25th, as emergency crews responded to reports of a collision on Indian Head Highway. Firefighters detailed the rescue operation approximately two hours later via social media. Among the five individuals involved in the crash, two required extrication by firefighters due to being trapped within their vehicles.
What kind of response did emergency services provide to the crash? Firefighters from Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department arrived at the scene and successfully extricated two patients who were trapped. All five patients were then transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries described as serious, but not life-threatening.
This crash was one of several incidents Prince George’s County firefighters handled overnight on Christmas. Crews also extinguished a fire at a townhouse in Laurel around 8:30 p.m. and responded to a first-floor fire at a home in lanham just before midnight. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either of those fires.
