banda Aceh, Aceh – More than 360 community health centers across disaster-stricken areas of aceh province are back online, offering a crucial lifeline to residents reeling from recent floods and landslides. It’s a sign of progress, but the recovery isn’t complete-and some communities are still cut off from care.
Health Services Resume in Aceh Following Devastating Disasters
Most community health centers are operational again, but challenges remain in reaching all affected populations.
- 366 of Aceh’s 399 community health centers (puskesmas) are now functioning.
- 30 puskesmas remain closed due to damage from floods and landslides.
- 794 health workers have been deployed to provide care in disaster zones.
- Six districts and cities are transitioning from emergency response to recovery.
What’s the status of healthcare access in Aceh after the disasters? According to the aceh Provincial Health Office, 366 community health centers (puskesmas) across 18 of 23 districts and cities impacted by the disasters are now operational, providing essential health services to the public.
Acting Head of the Aceh Health Office, Ferdiyus, stated on Saturday that these facilities are actively serving the health needs of the population. However, 30 puskesmas remain non-operational, hampered by mud burial, severe damage, and the overall impact of the disaster. These closed facilities are located in six districts and cities that experienced particularly severe flash floods and landslides in late november 2025.
