Angus Cloud, Actor Known for Role in “Euphoria,” Dies at 25

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Angus Cloud, who gained fame for his role as drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill on the HBO hit series “Euphoria,” has sadly passed away at the age of 25. The actor’s publicist, Cait Bailey, confirmed that Cloud died on Monday at his family home in Oakland, California. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Cloud’s family released a statement bidding farewell to their beloved “artist, friend, brother, and son.” They revealed that Cloud had recently experienced the loss of his father and had been struggling with it. The family expressed comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his father, who was his best friend. They also emphasized that Cloud was open about his battle with mental health and hoped that his passing could serve as a reminder to others that they are not alone and should seek support instead of silently fighting their own battles.

“We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone,” the family added.

Prior to his role as Fez on “Euphoria,” Cloud had no acting experience. He was discovered by casting scout Eléonore Hendricks while walking down the street in New York. Although initially suspicious of the opportunity, Cloud met with casting director Jennifer Venditti and eventually earned a co-starring role alongside Zendaya in the series’ first two seasons.

While some may have assumed that Cloud’s character mirrored his real-life persona, he vehemently denied it. In an interview with Variety, Cloud addressed those assumptions by saying, “It does bother me when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself.’ I’m like, ‘Why don’t you go and do that?’ It’s not that simple… I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

Cloud’s performance in “Euphoria” catapulted him to stardom, and he recently made his debut in the film “The Line,” a college drama that premiered at the Tribeca Festival. He had also been cast in “Scream 6” and appeared in music videos for Juice WRLD, Becky G, and Karol G. The filming of the third season of “Euphoria” has not yet commenced.

Series creator Sam Levinson expressed his grief over Cloud’s untimely passing in a statement, remarking, “There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace, and God Bless his family.”

HBO also paid tribute to the young actor, stating, “Angus Cloud was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and ‘Euphoria’ family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.”

The entertainment industry mourns the loss of Angus Cloud, a rising star taken too soon but leaving behind a lasting impact on those who knew and admired him.
