Actor Daniel Craig becomes Honorary Commander of the British Navy

by time news

Actor Daniel Craig was named Honorary Commander of the Royal Navy for his role as British intelligence agent James Bond. It corresponds to the on-screen title of James Bond.

The title was awarded in anticipation of the release of the new James Bond film No Time to Die, which was created with the help of the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dragon. The Navy also provided the filmmakers with access to key military facilities and personnel, and the filming took place at Bryze Norton Air Force Base in Oxfordshire.

“For me, it is indeed a real privilege and honor to be appointed an honorary senior commander,” Mr. Craig is quoted as saying in a posting on the British Navy website.

The world premiere of the new Bond film will take place on 28 September in London. No Time to Die was the 25th Bond film and the fifth for Mr. Craig.
