Kochi: In the wake of director Balachandra Kumar’s revelation, actor Dileep, the main accused in the case of attacking the actress, will be questioned by the special investigation team.
Balachandra Kumar’s statement was recorded by the investigation team last day. Some crucial information and evidence was submitted to the trial court in a sealed envelope. It is learned that Balachandrakumar’s mobile phone was also submitted.
The trial court has directed that further inquiries be made into the revelations before the 20th of this month. Dileep has already been questioned and the report will be handed over to the court. The prosecution’s plea seeking stay of the trial will be reconsidered on the 20th. It was alleged that Dileep had a close relationship with Pulsar Suni and that Dileep was trying to influence witnesses. Following this, a special team came forward for re-investigation. Witnesses will be questioned one by one in the coming days. Balachandra Kumar’s revelation is nearing completion of the trial phase of the case.
According to the prosecution, if Balachandra Kumar’s statement is not recorded and the facts are not ascertained, it will be a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code. The petition was filed following the resignation of the second Special Prosecutor, who alleged that the trial court’s position weakened the prosecution during the examination of witnesses. The Home Department has not appointed a new special prosecutor to complete the trial of the case. The victim has also written to the Chief Minister seeking further investigation into the case.
