Entitled “Renais”, this gin is produced from organic grapes harvested by hand in the vineyards of Chablis, in particular in the estate belonging to their father, explain Alex and Emma Watson to the American newspaper. Its specificity? He uses grape skins, usually set aside, to accentuate the taste of the spirit. The alcohol used to make the drink is produced in Beaujolais.

All the ingredients of this gin are then assembled in the country of origin of the Watson family: the United Kingdom. Enough to make this alcohol “the best of both worlds, English and French”, defends Alex Watson. “He takes the inspiration and the quality of the ingredients and the philosophy of France and applies it to an English drink. »

“Our family, our history”

If the project was founded by Alex Watson, Emma, ​​his famous sister, ex-star of the “Harry Potter” saga and holder of shares in the company, had the right to add her paw on the creativity part of the project. company, overseeing the artistic direction of the product.

“I couldn’t bear to let someone else do it, because it’s our family, our story,” explains the 33-year-old, alongside her father, owners of the vines producing the grapes for the beverage.

“We have to sell a product but it would have hurt me deeply if we hadn’t done it in a personal way”. 3500 first bottles are already on sale on the brand’s websiteat 70 euros each.

Emma Watson is not the first star to embark on the production of spirits, recalls the Financial Times. American actors Ryan Reynolds, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, singer Bob Dylan, rapper Drake and ex-footballer David Beckham have also launched their own brand of gin, vodka or whisky.
