Actress and former MLA Jayasudha has made headlines today as she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana. The announcement was made at the BJP office in Telanganawa, in the presence of the Telangana state president, Kishan Reddy.
Jayasudha, who made her debut in the Tamil film industry in the 1970s, has acted in numerous films in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. Some of her notable films include Balachander’s ‘Arangeradam’, ‘Sollathan Shakadam’, ‘Naan Awanilhi’, and ‘Apoorva Ragagan’.
In 2009, Jayasudha won the assembly election from the Secunderabad constituency, representing the Congress party. However, she faced defeat in the 2014 assembly elections. Subsequently, in 2016, she joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), but later switched to the YSR Congress party in 2019 during the elections.
Despite joining the YSR Congress party, Jayasudha was not actively involved in the party’s activities. Furthermore, she recently played a motherly role in the movie ‘Varisu’, starring Vijay.
Following discussions with the BJP leadership, Jayasudha decided to join the party, believing that she would be given an opportunity to contest in the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana. The state in-charge of the BJP, Tarun Sukh, was also present during her official induction into the party.
Jayasudha’s decision to join the BJP has sparked a buzz in the political arena, with many wondering if her presence will bring an added charm to the party’s campaign in Telangana. As a talented actress and a former MLA, her popularity could potentially attract more supporters to the BJP’s candidate pool.
