Adam Driver’s Fourth Time Hosting SNL: Recap and Review

by time news

facial expressions and attitudes, alluding to the audience’s love for his animated counterpart. The humor in this sketch doesn’t rely solely on the ridiculousness of the situation, but on Driver’s deadpan delivery and physical comedy. “The Reindeer Pick-up Line” It’s that time of year where folks don their ugliest sweaters and try to find love at the holiday party. Rudolph (Driver) swoops in to try his luck with the ladies. As you can imagine, this doesn’t go over too well. The clear stand-out here is Cecily Strong as a scandalized coworker. It’s a little uneven but has some memorable lines. “Whiskers R We” Two employees (Strong and Driver) of a cat rescue get together for their annual holiday adoption drive. Think of it as an old-school “scared straight” program where they beg you to give these cats a home. The two are a riot. This could easily be a regular mainstay, and here’s hoping it becomes one. “Next Goal Wins” Bonus shots include Driver as a coach who has pretty low stakes for his team of misfit athletes. They do get slaughtered on the field by the other squad (featuring Heidi Gardner and Andrew Dismukes). Nothing wrong with it but not one for the season highlight reel. Olivia Rodrigo performs “Traitor” Rodrigo is having a really big night and showcases her strong vocals once again. This is a band-fronted performance and could help her rake in even more awards her next trip around the awards show circuit. Her tonal range and songwriting talent continue to impress. “The News with Joe Lunaosta” Finally, The Nightly News with Joe Lunaosta makes its return. It’s a little hard to describe, but it’s a unique, solid satire from the mind of Andrew Dismukes. Killam and I are definitely on the same page with regards to this one. “Mafia Meeting” In the final moments of the episode, we are treated to the reunion of the widows and former colleagues of slain mobsters only for them to engage in a drinking game over who is allowed to share the most grievous tales. There’s a lot of shocking revelations and revelations about wealth and power. Most sinfully — it’s all in one breath. The sketch is one of those rare examples when it feels like the best part is the actors struggling to complete the challenge more than the content of what they’re choking out. Wrapping Up Another showcase of one of acting’s best, but its tropes show just how familiar we are with him. Rodrigo can easily shift gears for acting roles down the line, and let’s hope she’s not just another musician of the hour. Lunaosta might be something to keep an eye on. Overall, not an unpleasant time, with Rodrigo dominating the stage. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. Goodnight and live from New York it’s Saturday night!
