Adidas has a solution for the stock Yeezy shoes. The sporting goods manufacturer now wants to sell the remaining stocks of the shoes designed by scandal rapper Kanye West, which are worth billions. The proceeds are to be donated to organizations that West has harmed with his statements, announced the new Adidas boss Björn Gulden at the general meeting in Fürth.
“Burning the goods is not the solution,” said Gulden. Adidas terminated the contract with West, who now calls himself “Ye”, in October. This had repeatedly provoked, most recently with anti-Semitic statements. Since then, millions of “Yeezy” shoes with a sales value of 1.2 billion euros have been in stock, which have already been produced but whose sale has been put on hold.
It is not yet clear when the sale will start. According to media reports, Kanye West is entitled to a commission of 15 percent.
