A civil lawsuit seeking nearly IDR 5 billion (approximately $320,000 USD) has been filed against Indonesian actor Adly Fairuz, alleging his involvement in a fraudulent scheme promising admission to the Police Academy (Akpol). The case, brought before the South Jakarta District Court, centers around accusations that Fairuz exploited his public profile to convince a victim to deposit substantial funds in exchange for securing his children’s entry into the prestigious institution.
The Alleged Scheme Unveiled
The plaintiff’s attorney, Farly Lumopa, detailed the unfolding events, beginning in early 2023 when his client, Abdul Hadi, was introduced to Fairuz through an intermediary named Agung Wahyono. According to Lumopa, Fairuz claimed he possessed the ability to facilitate his client’s son’s admission to Akpol. Hadi subsequently deposited a total of IDR 3.65 billion (approximately $233,000 USD) with the understanding that it would secure his children’s acceptance into the academy for the 2023 and 2024 selection processes.
“Initially, it was said that the money had been handed over to General Ahmad,” Lumopa stated. “I was surprised and investigated who General Ahmad was. Because as a member of the large National Police family, I know a lot of people in that area, but the name is foreign.”
The “General” Revealed
Lumopa’s investigation led to a meeting with Fairuz at a shopping center in South Jakarta, where the identity of “General Ahmad” was shockingly revealed. “As soon as I met him, I asked the intermediary, ‘Where is General Ahmad?’ It turns out that Adly Fairuz was appointed. ‘Well, this is an artist, where’s the general?’ It turns out that Ahmad is taken from his full name, Ahmad Adly Fairuz,” Lumopa explained.
The plaintiff’s counsel suspects the deliberate use of the term “Jendereal” – a combination of “Jenderal” (General) and Fairuz’s first name – was a calculated tactic to mislead the victim into believing Fairuz had significant connections within the Indonesian National Police. Fairuz is also alleged to have falsely claimed a familial relationship with a high-ranking former Indonesian official, further bolstering the illusion of influence.
Broken Promises and Legal Action
Despite the substantial financial investment, Hadi’s son failed to gain admission to the Police Academy in both 2023 and 2024. In 2025, Fairuz reportedly signed a notarial deed agreeing to return the funds in installments of IDR 500 million (approximately $32,000 USD) per month. However, according to Lumopa, Fairuz only made a single payment at the beginning of 2025 before ceasing all communication.
“Only pay once at the beginning of 2025, after that it’s gone. PHP continues, bringing up the name of religion when charged, but there is no good faith,” Lumopa emphasized, using the Indonesian acronym PHP which translates to “empty promises.”
As a result of the default, Hadi filed a civil lawsuit for almost IDR 5 billion at the South Jakarta District Court in January 2026. In addition to the civil claim, a criminal complaint alleging fraud and embezzlement has been filed with the East Jakarta Metro Police.
Fairuz Remains Silent
As of this reporting, Adly Fairuz has not publicly responded to the allegations. Attempts by detikcom to reach Fairuz for comment have been unsuccessful. The case raises serious questions about the exploitation of public figures and the vulnerability of individuals seeking to navigate Indonesia’s competitive educational and professional pathways.
