Adrian Dubois Named Head Coach of Vermont Men’s Soccer Following National Championship Success

Vermont Athletics announced Wednesday the appointment of Adrian Dubois as the ninth head coach in the history of the University of Vermont (UVM) Men’s Soccer program, signaling a new era for the nationally recognized team.

The appointment comes on the heels of a remarkably successful period for UVM Men’s Soccer, culminating in a 2024 National Championship – a feat directly influenced by Dubois’s contributions as Associate Head Coach. According to Director of Athletics Jeff Schulman, Dubois was “directly responsible for recruiting and developing many of the top players” who secured the championship title. Schulman expressed full confidence in Dubois’s ability to “maintain our standing as one of the top programs in college soccer” while fostering excellence in his student-athletes both on and off the pitch.

Dubois expressed his gratitude and excitement, stating, “It is an incredible honor to lead the UVM men’s soccer program.” He also acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessors, praising Rob Dow and his staff for building “a culture of excellence that has elevated this program nationally.” Dubois emphasized the importance of Vermont’s strong community support and the pride instilled in its players.

Throughout his five seasons with the Catamounts, Dubois served as Recruiting Coordinator, consistently attracting high-caliber talent. His efforts resulted in the recruitment of three MAC Hermann Watch List honorees, two All-Americans, eight All-Region selections, two America East Goalkeepers of the Year, and two players selected in the MLS SuperDraft. College Soccer News recognized his recruiting prowess, naming him one of the top 12 assistant coaches in the country in 2022.

Dubois played a pivotal role in the Catamounts’ historic 2022 campaign, which saw the team reach the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 1989 and achieve a program-best No. 4 national ranking. The team finished with a record of 16-4-2, the second-highest win total in program history, and matched program records for most goals scored (46) and consecutive shutouts (7). Remarkably, Vermont went 792:44 without conceding a goal – the longest scoreless streak in program history.

Prior to returning to Vermont, Dubois served as Associate Head Coach at San Diego State, where he contributed to a landmark 2024 season for the Aztecs. The team secured its first-ever WAC regular season championship, going undefeated in conference play with a 7-0-1 record and recording six shutouts in eight conference matches. The Aztecs’ overall record of 10 wins marked their most successful season since 2011, and the team earned national rankings in two of Dubois’s three seasons.

Dubois’s coaching experience extends beyond Vermont and San Diego State. He previously served as head coach at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine (DIII) from 2014-2018, leading the program to three conference championships and setting numerous NCAA records. He also held coaching positions at UMass Boston (2013-2014) and UC San Diego (2011-2013).

Beyond the collegiate level, Dubois has demonstrated a commitment to youth development, serving as a Senior Staff Coach for the Far Post Soccer Club in Vermont, where he earned the 2021 Vermont Soccer Association Boys Competitive Coach of the Year Award. He also coached the Seacoast United Soccer Club’s U-19 Academy Team, winning the 2017 U.S. Club National Championship.

A native of Acworth, New Hampshire, Dubois was a four-year starting midfielder at the University of New Hampshire, earning New Hampshire High School All-America and Gatorade Player of the Year honors in his senior year.
