Usually a few years before a home game is “officially discontinued”, game manufacturers will stop developing new games on this console based on market considerations. However, it has been reported that an American game manufacturer “VGNYsoft” plans to launch new games on the SEGA Dreamcast, which has been discontinued for 21 years, and not only one, but “multiple” games.
VGNYsoftThey posted a notice on Twitter on May 31, saying that they knew very well that it was “2022”. But they are still working hard to bring new games to SEGA Dreamcast players, and currently plan to hold a simple presentation on the 1st to showcase a variety of new Dreamcast games.
It is understood that Dreamcast is the last home game console launched by Japanese game maker SEGA. The console came out in November 1998 and is tied with Sony’s PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft’s Xbox in the sixth generation of game consoles. However, due to the exaggerated sales volume of PS2 in the world, Dreamcast’s sales volume and living space were indirectly compressed, but it continued to cause serious losses to SEGA. Finally, SEGA announced that it would officially stop the production of Dreamcast in March 2001, and has since withdrawn from the home game market.

In fact, as early as 2016, a Japanese game company Columbus Circle announced that it would launch a new game “Night of the Shining Stars DX (キラキラスターナイトDX)” on the Nintendo red and white machine. And the company also launched a new work “Space Ninja Man DX (Astro Ninja Man DX)” on the red and white machine in February.
