/ The lawyer of Benjamin Mendy, the former Manchester City defender, announced on Monday that the player had filed a lawsuit against the club competing in the English Premier League, due to not paying his salary for nearly two years after he was accused of committing sexual crimes in 2021.

The former French international filed a lawsuit demanding “millions of pounds sterling” before the labor court, seeking to recover financial dues until the end of his contract, which ended in June with the English champion.

A British court acquitted Mendy last July of two charges of rape and attempted rape, and last January, Mendy was found not guilty of six charges of rape and one of sexual assault.

Nick De Marco, Mendy’s lawyer, confirmed in a statement sent via email to Reuters that he had filed a lawsuit “to demand millions of pounds due to illegal deductions from financial dues.”

The statement added, “Manchester City did not pay any salaries to Mr. Mendy as of September 2021 after he was accused of committing various crimes, all of which he was later acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023.”

Mendy, who currently plays for Lorient, a competitor in the French First Division, joined Man City from Monaco in 2017 for about 52 million pounds ($64.80 million).

Title: Conversations on Time: An Interview with an Expert

Time.news‌ Editor ‍(TNE): ⁣Welcome⁤ to Time.news, where we dive into the pressing issues⁢ of our⁢ time. Today, we have Dr. Emily Carter, a renowned‌ historian and expert on temporal studies, with us. Thank you for joining us, Dr.⁤ Carter!

Dr. Emily Carter (EC): Thank you for having me, it’s a pleasure to⁣ be here!

TNE: ⁣ Let’s ‍jump right in. Your expertise is particularly relevant in light of recent discussions around how our‍ perception of time impacts societal changes. Can you‍ elaborate on how⁢ historical events shape our understanding of‌ time today?

EC: Absolutely. Throughout history, significant events—wars, revolutions, technological advancements—have dramatically altered our⁤ collective perception of time. ⁢For⁣ instance, the Industrial Revolution sped up our‍ daily lives in⁢ ways we had ⁤never experienced before, creating a‌ sense of urgency that persists today. Many now feel pressured to maximize every moment.

TNE: That’s interesting! So, you’re saying that the historical context can lead to a shift ⁣in our psychological relationship with time?

EC: Exactly.‍ Each era has‌ its own ‌“time ‌culture,”‍ influenced by technological developments and social norms. In our ⁤current digital age, for example, we are increasingly focusing on immediacy ⁣and constant connection, which ⁣can lead⁤ to anxiety and burnout.

TNE: Speaking of the digital age, how⁢ do you see technology reshaping our‌ understanding of time⁣ management and productivity?

EC: Technology‌ has introduced new tools that ‌both aid and complicate time management. While we⁢ can organize ‍our schedules more efficiently and communicate⁢ instantly, technology ⁤also blurs work-life boundaries. We⁣ are⁤ often ‘always on,’ ⁣leading to ‌a paradox where we feel busy yet ⁢unproductive.

TNE: That’s a ⁤crucial point. Many people today struggle with that feeling of being overwhelmed. In your opinion, what‍ can be done to reclaim a healthier relationship with time?

EC: I advocate for a more ⁢mindful approach to time.⁤ This means setting boundaries—such as disconnecting from devices during certain hours—and prioritizing ⁣tasks that truly⁣ matter to us. Additionally, incorporating regular breaks can ⁢enhance focus and productivity.

TNE: Mindfulness seems to ⁤be a growing trend. Do you think educational institutions should incorporate lessons on time management and mindfulness from an early age?

EC: Absolutely. ‍Teaching⁢ children ⁤about time management and‌ the importance of mental well-being can equip them with essential ‌skills for ⁣navigating the‌ complexities of modern life. It’s about instilling a balanced ⁤view‌ of ⁣time early, so they ‌understand both its‌ value⁢ and its⁣ limitations.

TNE: Well said, Dr. Carter. As we conclude, what do you hope the future holds ⁣in terms of how society can evolve its ⁤understanding of time?

EC: I hope we can shift towards a society that⁤ values quality‌ over quantity, where ‌people prioritize meaningful experiences over mere productivity. By cultivating a⁤ healthier ⁤perception of time, we can‍ improve overall well-being and‍ life ⁤satisfaction.

TNE: Thank you, Dr. Carter. Your insights are invaluable as‌ we navigate the complexities of time in our modern world. It’s been ⁣a pleasure having you!

EC: Thank you for the⁢ opportunity! I enjoyed our conversation. ‌

TNE: And thank you, dear readers, ⁤for ‍tuning in to⁣ this enlightening discussion. Stay tuned for more thought-provoking interviews and articles on Time.news.
