At least one person was killed and five were injured after a Russian drone struck a high-rise apartment building in Kiev overnight, Reuters reported, citing local authorities.
The head of the capital’s military administration, Sergiy Popko, said that more than 100 residents were evacuated from the high-rise building in the Solomyanski district, located west of the city center.
A one-hour air alert was initially declared in Kyiv, with air defense forces involved in covering the attack. Two hours later, a new drone attack alert was issued.
Popko wrote in “Telegram” that when the apartment building in “Solomyanski” was struck, apartments located between the 17th and 21st floors were affected.
Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko announced that a teenage girl had died. Medics provided first aid to the injured, and one of the injured was hospitalized.
Emergency services reported that the fire was now under control.
Fragments of a drone fell in an open space in the central Shevchenko district, added the head of the capital’s military administration. So far, there are no reports of casualties or casualties in this part of Kyiv.
