/ The office of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced that next Wednesday (April 10) is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
Khamenei’s office said, “The crescent of Shawwal can be seen tomorrow evening, Tuesday,” and according to the announcement by the Iranian Supreme Leader’s office, “Wednesday will be Eid al-Fitr.”
The guide will lead the Eid al-Fitr prayer, after a long absence since the Corona ban period, and will deliver the sermon. In his sermon, he will likely address “the war in Gaza and the attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, as well as regional, international, and internal files,” according to observers.
The Astronomy Institute in Egypt had decided on the date of Eid al-Fitr in the country, and confirmed that it would be on Wednesday.
He said in a statement (yesterday evening, Sunday), that “the crescent of Shawwal will be born after the conjunction occurs at exactly eight o’clock and 22 minutes, Cairo time, on Monday, Ramadan 29, corresponding to April 8.”
He also explained that “the new crescent will not have been born after sunset in Cairo and in the majority of Arab capitals on that day, as the moon sets in the old crescent phase about 10 minutes before sunset in Cairo and the rest of the governorates.”
He also pointed out that, “Thus, Tuesday is the completion of the month of Ramadan, and Wednesday is the first day of Eid al-Fitr.”
