Former Deputy Prime Minister, now Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan in the parliament referred to the prospects of having a new copper smelter and nuclear power plant in Armenia after the RA government acquired the share of ZPMK.
“In the near future, a longer chain of the process is indicated. The Republic of Armenia should initiate the attraction of energy resources, it refers to the creation of a new nuclear power plant or a new power unit of a nuclear power plant. “We aim to extend the life of the existing nuclear power plant in Armenia and to build a new nuclear power plant,” he said.
Papikyan added that the chain he mentioned will be longer, it will reach the establishment of new factories.
“This chain will lead to the fact that after we have a copper smelter, we will already have both molten copper and another production chain, other factories arising from it,” he said, without detailing the necessary prerequisites for the construction of a copper smelter.
According to Papikyan, the projects to be implemented can be successful as a result of the joint work of the RA government, the Russian government and the business sector.
