Peace in the South Caucasus is important for the residents of the region, for the Black Sea region and, in general, for the transatlantic security, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference with Ilham Aliyev.
“We encourage the peace process and hope to achieve lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
According to the Secretary General of NATO, after many years, there is a possibility to achieve stable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“I highly appreciate the idea of the President of Azerbaijan that “both sides are closer to establishing peace than ever before”. I call on Azerbaijan to achieve stable peace with Armenia,” Stoltenberg emphasized.
It should be noted that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to the region has started today.
After Baku, the official will visit Georgia and Armenia.
Stoltenberg will have meetings with presidents and prime ministers in Yerevan and Tbilisi.
