Tensions between Iran and Pakistan have escalated after attacks were exchanged deep inside the two countries, with Iran targeting the Jaish al-Adl organization in Pakistan with a missile attack, while Pakistan responded with strikes targeting the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan, which resulted in a death toll in the border area in Iran of 7 to 9 people, according to official media in Tehran.

Although relations between the two countries have been somewhat tense in the past, these strikes are unprecedented between two neighbours who share a land border of about 700 kilometres.
