Director Badrul Anam Soud has removed the movie ‘Shyama Kavya’ from Bangladesh’s largest multiplex chain Star Cineplex. Now director-producer Mohammad Iqbal said to remove ‘Deadbody’ movie from Cineplex.

Iqbal said that his movie ‘Deadbody’ has already been taken down from Cineplex. He also said that he has decided to form a human chain in BFDC over the irregularities of Cineplex.

Elaborating on this, Iqbal said, ‘They are displaying my ‘dead body’ in the halls where the audience does not visit and the ticket prices are high. Then they are complaining about not being a spectator. Which is a crime. You know that the audience doesn’t go here, Bengali movies are shown there, English movies are shown where the audience is; How about that? In a day or two, I will form a human chain in FDC regarding Cineplex’s irregularities. A producer-director takes great pains to make a movie. He lost interest in the production when the film was duped after its release. We have to be vocal now to save Bengali cinema.’

Mezbah Uddin Ahmed, senior marketing manager of Star Cineplex, said, “We have not yet made an official statement regarding the complaint against us. But I spoke in several newspapers. I would like to say at the outset – we took into account the complaint they made about the government grant film ‘Shyama Kavya’ by the producer Badrul Anam Soud and brought it from the third screen to the number 1 screen. Then on Sunday, their distributor Bangabdi asked them to take down the movie, so we took it down.”

Regarding Iqbal’s complaint, Mejbah Uddin Ahmed said, “We are giving Mohammad Iqbal’s movie ‘Deadbody’ in our second popular branch in Mirpur. Which has the highest number of visitors after Bashundhara. But the movie failed to attract audience there as well. Now we can play the movie. But I can’t bring the audience. If the content is good, we have started Bengali movies by downloading Hollywood movies. But everyone saw that. So what is the use of complaining against us. If you make a good movie, the audience will surely come. Instead of pointing the finger of blame at Cineplex, everyone needs to take notice of the single screen. How is it going in the theaters where the movies have been released?”

Omar Sani, Ziaul Roshan, Shyamal Mawla, Indian actress Anvesha Roy and others have acted in various roles in the horror genre movie ‘Deadbody’.
