After the confrontation due to the changes in the “Electricity Law”: the debate ended without a vote

by time news

The Interior Committee opened this morning (Monday) a discussion on the promotion of the Electricity Law. Chairman of the Interior Committee and initiator of the law, MK Walid Taha (RAAM), introduced changes in the wording of the law, contrary to the outline approved in the preliminary reading.

The Regavim movement today distributed to the Knesset members a table with the differences and practical derivatives between the bill approved in the prefabricated Kiryat and the Taha MK amendment bill. The amended law included the incorporation of non-residential buildings while ignoring the issue of land ownership. In response, MK Taha said during the committee hearing: “Do not believe everything you hear.”

During the debate, a confrontation developed between MK Taha and MK Ben Gvir, at the end of which the latter was removed from the debate. “Are you threatening me?”, Ben Gvir slammed Taha, who replied: “Yes, I am threatening to take you out by force. I call on you to order.” In response, Ben Gvir asked: “What are you in Sokora?”, And accused: “You are a terrorist in the people of Israel,” and then was taken out of the courtroom. “Your nonsense is not interesting, racist Pashit,” MK Taha called out to him.

Meanwhile, the discussion in the committee ended without a vote on the wording of the law, which will take place at another time. At the end of the hearing, MK Smutrich said: “All the changes prove that the result will be that local authorities will run and submit fictitious plans. This law is the largest Israblof in the world. Ayelet Shaked will convince and give MK Taha everything he wants.”

Minister Shaked’s entourage said in response that this was a victory for Ayelet Shaked, and no vote was taken. In the end, only the sections on which there is agreement will be put to the vote.

As will be recalled, the law proposes to allow connection to the electricity, water and telephone infrastructure, buildings built without a permit, if a detailed plan has been submitted to the planning institution designating the area for residence. The bill further provided that the interior minister could approve a connection in the area if the plan was submitted by a government ministry or given an opinion from the district planner.

Yesterday, the Interior Ministry staff tried to reach an understanding with MK Taha regarding the bill. The staff members agreed with some of the changes and with some not. . With the wording brought today, Interior Minister Shekel does not agree.

The Interior Minister’s Office said that “there are some changes that MK Taha wants to make, but it is neither relevant nor agreed upon.” There are some small changes he made. Some are fine and some are not. ”
