/ Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will dismiss a number of government ministers after the Eid al-Fitr holiday following the defeat in the local municipal elections, according to what the Turkish Sözcü TV channel reported.

Hurriyet newspaper reported earlier that Erdogan intends to make a number of changes in the Council of Ministers and the leadership of the ruling Justice and Development Party after the election defeat.

Well-known opposition journalist Fatih Portakal said that 3 or 4 ministers and some vice presidents of the ruling party would be dismissed.

He added: “Let me tell you the names of those who will leave. The head of Istanbul Province and the head of Ankara Province will be dismissed after the holiday. Write to you: Hakan Khan Ozkan and Osman Nuri Kabak Tepe, one of them is in Ankara and the other is in Istanbul. Erdogan will dismiss these two people after the holiday in the coming days.” .

Erdogan earlier held a meeting with the leadership of the Justice and Development Party. He said, “The party was unable to achieve the desired results in the municipal elections due to shortcomings on the ground, and the results will be analyzed.”

It seems that the repercussions of the decline of the ruling Turkish “Justice and Development” Party in the municipal elections, which were held previously, have begun to appear publicly, as Turkish media revealed the possibility of the party dismissing officials from its ranks, after it failed to regain the mayorship of Istanbul and the capital, Ankara.

Turkish websites leaked the possibility of the Justice and Development Party removing its vice president and the head of local governments of the ruling party following its loss in the municipal elections held last Sunday, and showed the progress of the Republican People’s Party, the main opposition party, in various states of the country, especially the main ones such as the capital, Ankara. Istanbul and Izmir.

Turkish media had leaked news of expected resignations in the ruling party, led by Erdogan, against the backdrop of the party’s decline in the recent municipal elections, and its inability to regain the municipalities of Ankara and Istanbul.

The page on the presidency of the Istanbul municipality was closed for the ruling “Justice and Development” Party for another 5 years after Akram Imamoglu, who belongs to the “Republican People’s” Party, was able to oust the ruling party’s candidate, former Minister Murat Kurum, in the local elections that were held previously.

Imamoglu has strengthened his political position as a potential candidate in the presidential elections that Turkey will witness in 2028, especially since the current president of Turkey began his political career as mayor of Istanbul before gradually ascending to his positions over the last two decades.
