Agnieszka Hyży Reveals She Was Drugged, Sparks Outcry Over Widespread Sexual Assaults
Agnieszka Hyży, a prominent Polish presenter, has publicly revealed she was drugged with a substance she referred to as a “rape pill” during a night out, igniting a wave of shared experiences and calls for greater awareness surrounding sexual assault. The presenter disclosed the harrowing incident on Instagram, explaining she had previously remained silent but felt compelled to speak out after hearing similar stories during an interview on “Halo tu Polsat.”
Hyży detailed the terrifying experience in a candid post, writing, “It really happened. It’s my story. Not alcohol. Not the party of a lifetime. One glass of Coke left on the bar. A few minutes later, the world started spinning, my body stopped listening, and the movie… stopped completely. Emergency room, hospital, I remember everything vaguely.”
Following the initial revelation, Hyży expressed shock at the overwhelming response on social media. She reported being inundated with messages from other women recounting their own traumatic experiences, many of whom had also been victims of drink spiking and subsequent sexual assault.
“It’s a bit overwhelming,” Hyży wrote in a subsequent post. “The stories that come to me sound like ready-made material for investigators. It’s a pity that no one wanted to look into them for so long. Victims often feel like perpetrators. People who have been raped remain silent for years. Many of them just broke yesterday… or today.” She shared the story of one woman who confided in her about remaining silent for five years after being drugged and assaulted, detailing a frustrating search for help that was met with shame and guilt rather than support.
The sheer volume of messages received prompted Hyży to consider taking action beyond simply sharing her own story. “Many people write about regulations, law and institutions. I am not an expert in this, although I have started reading a lot more,” she stated. “I have the impression that many people who are victims hope that since the topic has surfaced in the media and suddenly someone has spoken about it loudly, something will finally change. I feel that now I have a certain obligation to pursue this topic further.”
Hyży concluded her statement by encouraging anyone who has experienced trauma to reach out to trusted individuals for support. “I really appreciate your honesty and courage. I read everything and I believe that just sharing it can be some kind of relief. I encourage you not to keep it to yourself and try to talk to someone you trust and are close to,” she added.
