The maximum age limit for recruitment in the Agnipath Army has been increased from 21 to 23. The Central Government has introduced a new employment scheme called the Tour of Duty to recruit 45,000 soldiers a year on contract basis in the Indian defense sector. The project is named Agni Bath. It was reported that those between the ages of 17.5 and 21 in the scheme would be included in the troop on a monthly salary basis on a 4-year contract. Those who are included in this program are called Agni Veer. They will be recruited as downline personnel in the Army, Air Force and Navy. They will be paid a monthly salary of 30 thousand rupees to 40 thousand rupees. The central government has said it will provide Rs 45 lakh in insurance during working hours and Rs 44 lakh in case of death of soldiers.

In 4 years only 25 per cent will be included in the permanent service of 15 years on merit basis. The remaining 75% will be laid off without a pension. Instead they will be given tax-free cash benefits ranging from Rs 11.4 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. This cash benefit is also not fully provided by the government. The government will pay 9,000 to 12,000 per month as service fund in the players’ monthly salary and the same amount will be paid to the players up to 12 lakh rupees at the end of 4 years along with interest. The federal government is said to have introduced the Agni Bath scheme to reduce defense spending, including pensions.

The federal government intends to use the bulk of the cost of the Agni Bath project to buy logistics. Meanwhile, the maximum age limit for enrollment in the Agnibad scheme has been raised from 17.5 to 21 years. The maximum age limit for recruitment in the Agnipath Army has been increased from 21 to 23. Realizing that recruitment has not been possible in the last two years, the Government of India has now decided to grant a one-time exemption to the proposed recruitment cycle for 2022. Accordingly, the maximum age limit for the recruitment process for the Agnipath project for 2022 has been increased from 21 to 23.
