the Korean national team is entering the tournament following a demanding schedule that saw them compete in the 2026 Badminton World federation (BWF) India Open (Super 750) on January 18th.Prior to that, the team essentially transitioned from the BWF World Tour finals on December 21st directly into the Malaysia Open (Super 1000) on December 31st – celebrating the New Year in transit.It wasn’t until after competing in both the Malaysia Open and India Open that players were able to enjoy a two-week respite.
Ahn Se-young and her teammates are looking to translate their individual successes into a team title. The women’s team is seeded second and will compete in Group Z against Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
Team Formats and Group Stage Challenges
The 2026 Asian Men’s and Women’s Team Badminton championships will feature a straightforward format: each match will consist of three singles and two doubles games. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals and ultimately compete for the championship title.
