Xania Monet Claps Back At Kehlani & Jermaine Dupri In Video For New Track

The unfolding situation marks a potentially unprecedented moment in music: an A.I. artist engaging in a public dispute with established performers. Xania Monet’s new track includes clips of Kehlani discussing the rise of A.I. in music and social media posts from Jermaine Dupri. In the song, she accuses Kehlani of “throwing shade” and expressing negativity in interviews.

“Funny how you went to the media first, talking about my pen like you know my worth.” She continued, “You say I ain’t real, you say I don’t create. But your voice shake a little every time you hate.”

Monet didn’t hold back with Dupri either, asserting she’s never referenced him while he seemingly attempts to diminish her success, despite his own career trajectory. “I ain’t mention you, never threw shade! But you stay in my light, like you self-made. You could’ve reached out, you could’ve shown love, but you chose ego instead of me up and it’s sad cause, this industry cold.”

JD & Kehlani React To Xania’s Digital Shade

Jermaine Dupri and Kehlani both reacted to Xania Monet’s track and accompanying music video. After clips from the video were posted, both artists commented on the comment section. Kehlani responded with a dismissive, “LMAOO man get the hell on 😂😂😂😂.” Dupri seemingly took the digital disses in stride, posting a string of laughing emojis: “🤣🤣🤣🤣.”

Here’s What Kehlani Previously Said About Xania

As Xania Monet, created by 31-year-old Telisha Jones, gained prominence in November, Kehlani voiced concerns about A.I.’s impact on the music industry. In a social media post, she expressed sympathy for artists building careers while facing competition from computer-generated music.

“Just because you can, don’t mean you should. Art is not a money grab. Music means something significant to culture, to humanity, to people. Me personally I’m going to value it that way for the rest of my life,” Kehlani wrote.

Telisha Jones Explains Why She Decided To Use A.I. To Create Music

Following Xania’s viral success, Telisha Jones sat down with Gayle King to discuss her decision to utilize A.I. for music creation. Jones acknowledged her inability to sing but framed artificial intelligence as a powerful tool, maximizing its potential.

“I wouldn’t call it a shortcut, because I still put in the work. Anytime something new comes about and it challenges the norm and what we’re use to […] you’re going to get strong reactions behind it. And I just feel like A.I. is the new era that we’re in. And I look at it as a tool, as a instrument.. utilize it!” Telisha explained.
