Elon Musk is once again making people sit up and take notice with a bold prediction: in one to two years, artificial intelligence will surpass humanity’s smartest mind.
The development of artificial intelligence (AI) is progressing at an incredible pace. While programs like ChatGPT or Midjourney initially ran a bit jerky, a noticeable improvement was seen within a very short time. In some cases, AI-generated images and texts can hardly be distinguished from content created by humans.
According to Tesla boss Elon Musk, AI will be smarter than the smartest human in 2025 or 2026. The founder of the AI startup xAI commented on the topic of so-called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) in an interview on Monday – literally “artificial general intelligence”, which is said to have significantly broader capabilities than today’s machines.
Asked about a timeline for this, Musk said: “If you define AGI as smarter than the smartest human, I think it will probably be next year, within two years.”
Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI, the Microsoft partner that launched the technical revolution of generative AI with ChatGPT. However, Musk fell out with the company and has since sued it. xAI offers its own AI model called Grok.
