Chennai: Following the High Court order, the seal on the AIADMK headquarters was removed and it was opened yesterday with heavy police security.

Palaniswami and Panneerselvam are working as two teams in AIADMK. In this case, after a tough legal struggle, AIADMK’s special general committee meeting was held on 11th in Chennai under the leadership of Palaniswami.

Palaniswami was elected as the interim general secretary of the party. Panneerselvam along with his supporters suddenly arrived at the party headquarters in Rayapetta in a campaign vehicle while the general meeting was going on. At that time there was a fierce conflict between the supporters of Palaniswami and the supporters of Panneerselvam.

Panneerselvam’s supporters broke the doors of the party office and entered. The Palaniswami party alleged that they damaged various rooms there and took away documents and precious gifts of Jayalalithaa.

The police rushed to the information and chased away both parties. The revenue department that followed locked and sealed the party headquarters.

Subsequently, the Panneersellam and Palaniswami parties separately filed a case in the Madras High Court demanding the handover of the party headquarters. In this case, it was mentioned that the key of the party office should be handed over to Palaniswami in the judgment given yesterday.

Following the High Court verdict, officials of the Revenue Department led by Mylapore District Collector Jagajeevan Ram reached the AIADMK headquarters in Rayapetta yesterday morning.

Then they removed the seal placed on the 11th and handed over the office key to AIADMK head office manager Mahalingam in writing. Former AIADMK minister CV Shanmugam was present at that time.

Scepter, sword of war

The chiefs’ rooms on the ground floor of the office were broken into and their documents taken away. The bureau in the party office room on the first floor was broken and the documents were taken away. The AIADMK said that some of the computers’ memories are also missing.

Also, in the accountant’s room on the 2nd floor, when Jayalalithaa used to go to public meetings since 1984, the scepter, war sword, silver statues given by the volunteers are being protected and it is said that the Panneerselvam party has damaged that room as well.

The doors of the rooms on the 3rd floor were also broken, documents were scattered and various items such as desks, chairs and tables were damaged. Officials have started work to assess the damage in the office.

In this regard, they said, “Many rooms have been damaged here. Valuables and documents have gone missing in some rooms. We have started the assessment work in this regard. The court has ordered that none of the volunteers should come to the office for a month.

Therefore, we are going to assess the damage and missing items and submit it to the interim general secretary of the party, Palaniswami. After that the reconstruction work will be started,” he said.
