Another way to see the world”

Art has played an important role in every aspect of life since the dawn of mankind, and throughout history, artists have used various forms of art to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. The expressive powers of art have had a far-reaching impact on people in history, society and culture. While art reflects the lifestyle, beliefs, and cultural values of a particular period, it also demonstrates the intellectual and aesthetic understanding of the corresponding era. It is a practice that brings people together socially, allows us to share our feelings and creates a common language. However, art sometimes contradicts the existing aesthetic consensus and reveals a rebellious and autonomous new language of expression. Each artist reminds us of his own view of the world. I would like to talk about Aida Makhmudova. She studied art at Central Saint Martins and has had solo exhibitions and group exhibitions around the world in cities including Belgium, London, Rome, New York, Moscow, Tbilisi and Baku. Makhmudova also took part in the 55th and 56th Venice Biennales.

Aida Makhmudova, in search of artistic expression, immerses herself in the essence of materials and tries to decipher the language of the world through figurative, semi-abstract and abstract forms. At the same time, she approaches his work with deep curiosity and a strong desire to unravel the inner mysteries, like a philosopher pondering the nature of existence.

If we think that the material world is a huge book that we only need to read and observe to gain knowledge, Aida Makhmudova wholeheartedly accepts and implements this idea. Her work is like chapters of this wonderful book, and each stroke and layer reveals a new side of her research.

Aida Makhmudova’s works reflect poetry attempting to capture the beauty of nature. The artist’s works evoke serene contemplation, like Wordsworth’s evocations of calm emotions, and invite the viewer to get lost in the depths of his compositions.

An artist is never satisfied with a simple image, so her search for reality is beyond the surface. Makhmudova is interested in the expressive possibilities of materials and tools. Through her experiments with heat, light, color and matter, she creates a multi-layered narrative that transcends a single work and invites viewers to engage with her work on a visceral level.

From this point of view, Makhmudova’s works reflect avant-garde thought, offering innovative materials and content. The artist uses a variety of materials to create profound expressions. She manipulates them in ways that push the boundaries of form and function, blurring the line between art and life.

Constantly exploring materials and their potential, the artist creates visually vibrant, emotionally and intellectually stimulating paintings. Makhmudova’s works force us to re-evaluate our preconceptions about art and encourage us to perceive the world in a new way through the prism of a true visionary.
