Watan Al-Youm: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi, confirmed on Tuesday that the failure of the international community to take a clear and frank position demanding an end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza is a failure to implement international law that Israel uses as a cover to continue killing Palestinians, destroying Gaza, and continuing its illegal and inhumane measures in… West Bank.
Al-Safadi said, in a meeting with the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Levant countries, that stopping the Israeli aggression against Gaza is a responsibility that the international community must address firmly and effectively, pointing to the great damage that the aggression is causing to the interests of many Western countries and their reputation in the region.
Al-Safadi stressed Jordan’s rejection of any approach to dealing with Gaza after stopping the war unilaterally, and warned of the consequences of the security approaches adopted by the Israeli government in the West Bank and which it says it wants to implement in Gaza.
He pointed out that the Israeli government challenges the international community when it rejects the two-state solution and continues to undermine the Palestinian National Authority, as the entire international community, including the European Union and the United States of America, supports the two-state solution as a way to resolve the conflict.
He said that the continuation of the Israeli war on Gaza and its attacks on the Palestinians in the West Bank is pushing the region towards more conflict and exposing the extremist agenda openly embraced by ministers working in the Israeli government.
He said that Israel is committing war crimes in its aggression that killed more than 19,000 Palestinians and continues to deprive the Palestinian people of their right to food, medicine and electricity, and the international community must move effectively to stop these crimes.
Al-Safadi stressed that a just peace will not be achieved except with the end of the occupation and the fulfillment of all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to freedom and an independent state with sovereignty over its national territory.
Many European countries called for an immediate ceasefire and affirmed their support for the right of the Palestinian people to their freedom, security, and independent state according to the two-state solution.
Al-Safadi discussed with the members of the delegation, which includes the head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Levant countries, Isabel Santos, the European Union ambassador accredited to the Kingdom, and a number of members of the delegation, the Jordanian-European relations and cooperation programs between them in many sectors, and thanked the European Union for its support for Jordan.
