Gennels, an American citizen, was taken to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital in Jerusalem during CPR and when he was unconscious, but there the doctors had to pronounce him dead.
Allen’s Twitter account has only one tweet that he shared: “I think there will always be tension in the Middle East, as long as there are people who want to murder the Jews, and there are Jews who don’t want to be murdered, and neither side is willing to compromise.”
A preliminary investigation of the incident reveals that a vehicle was first shot at in the Nevo camp intersection area, where the young man was fatally injured and then also caused a car accident. After that, a shot was fired at a jeep at the Beit Arava intersection, with no casualties. Later, shots were fired at a vehicle with a family in it at the Almog intersection, with no casualties. The vehicle in which the terrorists were traveling towards Jericho, got off the vehicle during the drive and tried to set it on fire. The terrorists noticed the police forces and fled towards Jericho while shooting in the air. The number of terrorists involved is unknown.

One of the passengers in the car that was hit by the shooting said that the assailant got out of the car – and pulled out a gun. “The terrorist’s car overtook us and then one of the terrorists got out, pointed the gun at us – and missed,” he said. “It happened 300 meters after the Beit Arava intersection. We saw that there were three people in the terrorists’ car.”
Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gabir, tweeted: “Alan Ganels the 14th, a dear Jew who came to Israel in the name of Zionism and the mission and was murdered by the sons of injustice. We must change the concept of security and move from defense to attack. No more bride and groom, but an assaulting hand.”
