MADRID, 7 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This June 7 marks the 69th anniversary of the death, in 1954, of the British mathematician Alan Turing, whose work in cryptography contributed to decipher the Nazi codes in World War II.

often considered “father of computing”, there are many quotes that Alan Turing bequeathed for posterity. Here are seven reproduced.

– The original question, ‘Can machines think?’ I think it is too insignificant to merit discussion.

“Sometimes the person that no one imagines capable of anything is the one who does things that no one imagines.”

– “If a machine is expected to be infallible, it cannot be intelligent either.”

“Those who can imagine anything can create the impossible.”

– “Conjectures are of the utmost importance, because they suggest possible avenues of investigation.”

“The isolated man does not develop any intellectual force.”

– “We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see a lot of things that need to be done.”
