Albert Serra fuses the voice of Ingrid Caven with the experimental music of Molforts in Temporada Alta

Next Wednesday, December 6 High Season festival will premiere at the theater in Salt, ‘Molforts‘. It is a concert which unites the voice and lyrics of the German actress and singer Ingrid Caven with the experimental music group that bears the name of the show. All of them directed by Albert Serra, in a staging that reminds one some bohemia and that it is the achievement of the union of “aesthetic universes” that give a “very interesting result”. Serra acknowledges that what they wanted to do was a “weirder” proposal and that it has a background of tribute to Caven, a friend of Serra’s for years. “I think it’s a very good complement to everything he’s done and, moreover, from a much more contemporary point of view,” the director emphasized.

The proposal created by Albert Serra is performed by the band formed by Marc Verdaguer, Ferran Font, Joe Robinson, Enric Juncà and Xavier Gratacósunder the name of Molforts. This is an experimental Catalan band that uses the conceptual improvisation and anti-academic to create “soundscapes charged with elegance and intensity”. They work in the orbit of the creative environment of the production company Andergraun Films, and are the creators of the soundtracks for the works of Albert Serra.

On stage, the five musicians propose melodies that they surround Caven’s voice and that of Xavier Gratacós, which are constantly interpellated. A contemporary proposal, as Serra acknowledges and which will probably be one of the last opportunities to see Ingrid Caven on stage. And the fact is that the 84-year-old actress, wife and muse of the German director Reiner Fassbinder, proposes an intimate but “innovative” show.

In this sense, Serra explains that what he wanted was to unite the “aesthetic universes” that have resulted in this proposal. “I thought it was missing a last swan song and that the band was the most appropriate to do it as original as possible”, he emphasized.

The project that will be released on December 6 is based on the compositions that Caven has made in collaboration with Molforts. The lyrics are the result of Caven’s work with writer Jean-Jacques Schuhl. It should be noted that the songs will be collected on a disc that will be published later.
