Alcohol tax cut in Dubai – NEWS 360 – WORLD

by time news

Dubai: In an effort to attract more tourists to the country, Dubai has waived 30 percent tax on alcohol sales. Dubai is the economic, trade and tourism hub of the United Arab Emirates, so authorities believe it would be beneficial to reduce alcohol consumption.
Unlike neighboring Saudi Arabia, alcohol is sold in licensed venues including hotels, restaurants, bars and designated shops. Despite this, it is not possible to consume alcohol in a public place in the country.

Out of the seven emirates in the UAE, only Sharjah and neighboring Dubai have completely banned alcohol.
The move to lower alcohol prices comes as the Saudi capital, Riyadh, continues to make efforts to attract foreign visitors and companies.
