Alen Fillipi Wins Latin America Tournament | Champion Crowned

Brazilian Player Alen Fillipi Wins Historic BSOP Championship in São Paulo

The Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) Championship concluded in São Paulo on November 30, 2025, with a historic win for local player Alen Fillipi. The $6,000 buy-in event attracted a massive field of 714 entries, creating the largest prize pool in Latin American poker history and solidifying Brazil’s position as a major force in the global poker landscape. Fillipi’s victory earned him a prize of $683,600 and etched his name into the annals of Brazilian poker.

Final Table Dominated by Brazilian Players

The final day of the championship, held at the WTC Sheraton, saw nine players compete for the title. Notably, the final table was overwhelmingly dominated by Brazilian players, with Czech poker star Martin Kabrhel standing as the sole international competitor. Kabrhel, known for his controversial yet captivating style, was swiftly eliminated in 9th place, marking a quick start to the final table action.

However, Kabrhel’s early exit proved deceptive, as the pace of play slowed considerably. The elimination of the next player took a grueling four hours, demonstrating the high level of competition and strategic play among the remaining finalists.

Fillipi’s road to victory was far from straightforward. Despite leading on Day 1, he entered Day 4 as one of the shortest stacks among the final 24 players. Through a series of skillful double-ups, he managed to claw his way back into contention. Even on the final table, Fillipi faced adversity, losing a key hand to Gregory Fabião and once again finding himself with a short stack. He quickly recovered, however, doubling up against Fabião when his pocket Aces held against Kings.

The elimination of Pedro Padilha in 4th place brought an end to 11 hours of intense final table play.

A Deal and a Dramatic Finish

With three players remaining – Fillipi, Diones Lopes, and Matheus Grazziotin – the players opted to strike a deal. This agreement adjusted the payouts, with Fillipi securing $521,000, Lopes receiving $519,400, and Grazziotin taking home $423,000. Despite the deal, $162,600, the coveted BSOP trophy, and the champion’s title remained on the line.

The decisive hand unfolded quickly. Fillipi and Lopes engaged in a massive pot, representing 80% of the remaining chips. Fillipi went all-in with K♠6♠ against Lopes’ A♦Q♠. A fortunate river card completed a flush for Fillipi on the board of 8♠5♥Q♣2♠9♠, giving him a commanding chip lead.

Heading into heads-up play, Fillipi needed just one more hand to secure the victory. The final board of T♠4♠5♦J♦6♥ brought two pairs for both players. Grazziotin went all-in with 5♠4♣, but Fillipi correctly called with J♥4♦, claiming the championship.

Fillipi’s win represents a career-high achievement, nearly doubling his previous earnings. Overcome with emotion, he stated, “It’s a dream. The poker elite played in this tournament. I had a really good day. Sometimes you just feel it, and I knew today was my day.”
