With a heat wave in full swing, which could begin to subside on Friday, all of Spain is on alert after propping up another day of widespread records of more than 40 degrees, while the Basque Country, in the north of the peninsula, is at risk extreme, with 42 degrees, and a warning, red, which will extend to the northeast tomorrow.

According to the Aemet website, the Spanish Meteorological Agency, the red alert will extend to the northeast; 42 degrees may be registered on the Ribera del Ebro in La Rioja, Navarra and Zaragoza, and may even be exceeded in some points in the Rioja Alavesa, in the Basque Country.

Beyond the Basque Country, this Wednesday the suffocating heat maintained the orange alert in thirteen autonomous communities, and the yellow level -slightly lower- in another three; one of them is the region of Murcia, which was the only one that was not on alert in the early hours.
