A Year Away from the Game
Prior to the 2022-2023 season, Texier announced he would not be joining the Blue Jackets, a decision made under the recommendation of the National Hockey League (NHL) Health and Substance Abuse Program and the Players’ Association. “Over the past year, I have faced personal issues and challenges. I feel like I need to be close to my family right now,” Texier explained. He expressed deep gratitude for the support he received from the Columbus organization and its fans, stating, “I have a lot of love and respect for the city of Columbus, the Blue Jackets and the fans… It’s a difficult decision, but it’s the best one for me at the moment.” During his time away from the NHL, Texier continued to develop his game with the Zurich Lions in Switzerland, where he tallied an impressive 35 points in 46 games.
