The Russian opposition leader, Alexéi Navalni, against whom the Russian justice began a new trial today, this time for extremism, and for which he could be sentenced to another 30 years in prison, called for launching “an electoral campaign” against the war in Ukraine and against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We are going to carry out an electoral campaign against the war. And against Putin. Just like that. A long, tenacious, exhausting campaign, but of great importance, in which we will encourage people against the war”he stated, in an article published on his website.
According to Navalni, the dispute caused “the degradation of the economy and the drop in the standard of living, criminal soldiers and miserable mobilized, dead and wounded.”
“It is a very concrete task, and our work will be successful, I do not doubt it.“, he added.
The opposition leader recalled that his new trial began today, which he considers the reason for “call everyone to action and announce a new project, very important. A great propaganda machine. A machine of truth” to fight “against Putin’s lies and the Kremlin’s hypocrisy”.
He pointed out that the trial itself, held in a prison in the Vladimir region, where he has been held since June 2022, “It shows that a project like this is correct and necessary.”
He denounced that he is being tried inside a prison, because Putin “fear the truth” and above all that it reaches the masses.
“In essence, the task of strengthening and prolonging Putinist power is accomplished by gagging all who dare to tell the truth,” He added, denouncing that in recent times the number of measures that seek to prohibit and outlaw organizations and silence any different opinion has increased.
The campaign, he assured, will not be in the streets, in pickets or protests, but in social networks, in digital spaces, since “any granny has WhatsApp and Telegram”, and even learn to master artificial intelligence systems.
To that end, he called the first hundred volunteers “ready to dedicate themselves to this wonderful but difficult cause.”
“It is a long-term project. Putin’s military defeat is inevitable. But nobody knows how it will be and what the consequences will be,” indicated, when pointing out that the domes will not cede power and will try to “brainwash citizens”.
