The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the recent mobilization and build-up of forces in various regions of Libya, particularly in the south and west.
Algeria fully shares the concerns expressed by the United Nations regarding these mobilizations, stressing the importance of preventing clashes between opposing factions.
The ministry called on all Libyan parties to exercise wisdom, self-restraint, and understanding to avoid the tragic consequences of renewed conflict.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry urged the Libyan parties to find a peaceful solution to the crisis, achieve reconciliation, reunite institutions, and end foreign interference.
Yesterday, the UN mission, along with France, Italy, Germany, Britain, and the United States, expressed concern over ongoing military movements in southwestern Libya, warning of the risk of escalation and violent confrontation.
The movements of Haftar’s forces towards the southwest have angered the military forces in the west, leading to heightened alert among the latter. Lieutenant General Salah Al-Namroush, Deputy Chief of Staff, instructed army units to prepare for any potential attack.
Haftar’s forces announced their intention to secure the areas of Sabha, Ghala, Marouq, Qatrun, Brak al-Shati, and Adre as part of their southern security operation.
