Imane Khelif Files Complaint for Cyberbullying

Algerian Olympic boxing champion Imane Khelif has filed a complaint in Paris for cyberbullying, her lawyer announced. This comes after she faced transphobic comments and scrutiny over her‍ high ⁢testosterone levels.

“Boxer Imane Khelif, who just won the‌ gold medal at the Paris 2024‍ Olympic ‌Games, decided to fight a new battle: that of justice, dignity⁤ and honor,” Khelif’s lawyer wrote.

The complaint, filed ⁢with the Paris prosecutor’s office’s anti-hate ‍online department, accuses the perpetrators of a “misogynistic, racist and sexist campaign.”

“The unjust harassment ⁤suffered by the boxing champion will ⁤remain as the biggest stain ⁢on these Olympic ‌Games,” Khelif’s defense noted.

After winning the gold⁤ medal, Khelif declared, “I am a strong woman with special powers.” She also addressed her critics, saying, “I am fully eligible to‌ participate, I am a woman‌ like any other. I was born a‍ woman, I have lived as a woman and I have competed as a woman.”
