President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced that a transport corridor is being formed between Azerbaijan and Turkey through the territory of Armenia, RIA Novosti reports.

“We attach great importance to the formation of the corridor between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey, the primary instructions have been given. In the coming days, we will start building a railway from Horadiz to Zangila to the border with Armenia. The technical and economic basis is already being prepared. A road from Horadiz to Zangila was built in a short time, I drove that road myself, it’s very convenient, you can drive at high speed,” Aliyev said at the meeting with the delegation led by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.

According to him, “the construction of the railway will take two years at most”.

“But our idea is not to wait for these conditions, transportation can be done by Horadiz railway and then with the help of large capacity vehicles. This is a very important agenda item. I think and I am sure that we can send primary cargoes to Turkey through the territory of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nakhichevan and receive them in the opposite direction. Thus, the opening of the Nakhichevan corridor will be carried out, which is an important part of the tripartite declaration signed on November 10,” Aliyev said.
