Mr. Alizamin has been on hunger strike in prison for 2 months and 10 days. During these days, what did the henchmen of the government not do to discredit the action, the magnitude of the protest, and its publication? At first they wrote that a person cannot starve, it is impossible, it is a lie of the opposition. To put it mildly, naive people, ignorant of world practice, believed and repeated – it cannot be. They didn’t ask themselves that if it was a lie, the prison administration would have exposed it and spread the video of A. Salayev eating!

I wrote a post about famous prison famines in the world, published information links. They were silent for a while.

A few days ago, I read again on the wall of one of my friends that what happened, the world champions on hunger are all in Azerbaijan and gathered in Baku? Can not be…

What they want to say is their clear, ugly intentions – to create distrust, to discredit. Naives also repeat.

Even 15 years ago, hunger strikes in Azerbaijan did not last more than 2-3-5 days, and in recent years, Tofig Yagublu, Mehman Huseynov, Saleh Rustamli, Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, and now Alizamin Salayev have exhibited examples of long-term hunger that surprised and amazed people. There are 100% clear and known hunger periods that are not fake, but they are quite large, and the longest period is Alizamin’s.

Let’s compare it with the most famous hunger strikes.

The 1981 Irish Hunger Strike, known worldwide as the “Irish Hunger Strike,” was the culmination of five years of protest over the conflict in Northern Ireland, a part of Britain. A group of 23 Irish – and at the same time Catholic – prisoners who were on hunger strike in an English prison went on a hunger strike, 10 (ten!) of those who went on hunger strike died as a result of hunger! The British government, the prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, nicknamed the “Iron Lady”, fought hard, she did not want to make any concessions, but she could not take a stand in front of the death of such a patriot and the resonance, protest and condemnation it caused in the world, she was forced to compromise, even if only a little. !..

The leader of the gang, Robert (Bobby) Sands, who was the first to starve, starved for 66 days and passed away despite being artificially fed. Look at the table of those who died of starvation.

Participants who died on hunger strike

Name Paramilitary affiliation Length of strike

Bobby Sands IRA 66 days
Francis Hughes IRA 59 days
Raymond McCreesh, IRA 61 days
Patsy O’Hara INLA 61 days
Joe McDonnell IRA 61 days
Martin Hurson IRA 46 days
Kevin Lynch INLA 71 days
Kieran Doherti IRA 73 days
Thomas McElwee IRA 62 days
Michael Devine INLA 60 days

Kevin Lynch, 71, who deliberately joined the hunger strike almost 3 months after Bobby Sands, just to attract more attention, for the sake of greater effectiveness of political PR and advertising, is seventy-one! – day, and Kieran Doherty even 73, – seventy-three! They starved and left the world. Other participants died after starving for 62, 61, 60 days. Martin Hurson was the fastest to die after 46 days of starvation…

At this point, I remembered another silly remark: “You said that he was dying from the 30-40th day.” They say to a dying person, “He is dying” and they take him to where he is! What else can we say? Is he hungry from his feast? Did he refuse to eat to lose weight and slim his waist?!

My point is that if there is someone who can starve in Northern Ireland with a population of half a million Catholics, why not in Azerbaijan with a population of 7-8 million? The fact that such a person is starving does not show their ability to starve, their “talent”, but the intensity and degree of the government’s oppression of people, as well as the degree of protest!

Injustice and oppression bring people to such a point that they prefer to die instead of fighting for their ideas and actions by living and enduring oppression…

If you are silent in the face of this oppression, or worse, if you are an oppressor, at least have a little conscience and social morality, don’t mock the people who protested in such a terrible way and went to death!

Aren’t you afraid of God’s punishment?!

If you are not afraid, you can do it yourself, but when you suffer, you will remember my words, I am dead, you are alive…

Alizamin Salayev is a very valuable and dignified person who has no guilt, was arrested and imprisoned, a citizen of Azerbaijan who does not submit to oppression, a real hero! As soon as they found Bakhtiyar, they did not find any kompromat for Alizamin, even if it was half-fake, they could not find it!

Free Alizamin Salayev!
