Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has completed a huge program as always to ensure smooth observance of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day. Apart from paying tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar on February 21, tributes will also be paid at the graves of the three language martyrs at the Azimpur graveyard. On this occasion, the engineering department, waste management department, transport department and administration wing of DSCC have completed the necessary preparatory activities in those two places.

As part of the program, Martyr Captain Mansoor Ali Sarani from Moghbazar-Kakrail Mosque-Matsya Bhavan-Shiksha Bhawan-Doel Chatwar-Central Shahid Minar; From Bangabhavan via Zero Point Abdul Gani Road-Shiksha Bhavan-Dowell Chatwar-Central Shaheed Minar; Pavements, road dividers and drains have been cleaned from the central Shaheed Minar to the Palashi-Ajimpur graveyard via Swadhina Chatwar. Dangerous banners have been removed in these areas. Road potholes, crosscutting, sidewalks and road dividers are repaired and painted, electric lights are kept functional and median tree branches are trimmed. Along with Dhaka University area, road marking around the university, damaged roads have been renovated and repaired. Two mobile toilet lorries are provided for incoming visitors.

A special cleaning program has been carried out by the waste management department in the central Shaheed Minar and its surrounding areas, which will continue till February 21. Under the supervision of the Electricity Department, special initiatives have been taken to keep electric lights running smoothly on the roads of Central Shaheed Minar and its surrounding areas. A control room has been opened by the South City Corporation in the area adjacent to the Central Shaheed Minar for immediate all-round cooperation to complete this special cleaning program and keep the electric lights working.

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas and senior officials of the Corporation will pay tribute to the memory of language martyrs at the Central Shahid Minar in the early hours of February 21.
