Firefighters battled a blaze at a South African parliament building for more than 36 hours.
On a holiday Sunday, a fire broke out in an office on the third floor of the parliament complex, spreading rapidly to nearby buildings.
The roof of the upper building, built in 1884, and the roof of the lower, now completed building, collapsed. Police have arrested a 49-year-old man for attempting to break into parliament and setting fire to a building.
