Mumbai: When the BCCI central contracts for Indian players were announced, the BCCI was not prepared to make any changes to the A-plus category, which has the highest annual salary (Rs 7 crore per annum). Rohit SHarma, who has been promoted to captain in all three formats, and former skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah are the three Indian players who have retained their A-plus contracts this time around.

Why not Jadeja in A + with Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah. The judge’s name should have been included in A + anyway. I think the BCCI will be ready to give Jadeja an A-plus contract at least next time. Chopra said in addition to Jadeja, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant should be given A-plus contracts when announcing their annual contracts next year.
Currently Jadeja is in category A. When the contract is renewed next year, Jadeja will have to go to A Plus. And Rahul and Pant deserve to be included in the A-plus. Rishabh Panta is one of the players who will be promoted to A Plus. He is also the vice captain of the team. “Therefore, they deserve a full A-plus contract,” Chopra said.
The BCCI’s annual contract has downgraded senior players Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Rahane and Pujara were transferred from Category A to B (three crore annual remuneration) while Pandya was transferred from A to C category (one crore annual remuneration).
Shikhar Dhawan, who plays only one-day cricket, has been included in the B-grade with an annual salary of Rs 3 crore. Pacers Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been demoted from B grade to C grade with an annual salary of Rs 1 crore.
